Introduction

Welcome to Dominion Security Services training program. You have decided to pursue a very exciting and high demand career in private security guard services. This training is now mandatory by the Provincial government. You have all filled out your consent forms and are now eligible to complete the training. To be eligible for the license you must also be 18 years of age or older, possess a clean criminal record and be entitled to work in Canada.

This test preparation course is designed to assist you in preparing for the ministry’s mandatory test.

This course will give security guards key areas that they should be familiar with in order to perform their duties in accordance with the Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005 (PSISA) as well as its regulations.

You will be given external links at the end of each section that will enable you to further your understanding of the rules stated in this training guide.

Subjects such as, various laws and regulations, will be further explained in said links.

It is important that security guards have an overall understanding of this, as they may relate to key topics covered in the test.

The security guard test is in a written, 60 question, multiple choice format.

Test appointments are two hours in duration, 75 minutes of which is the allotted test completion time.

Results are available within 5 business days of completion of the test.

The cut score for the security guard test is 62%.

The license test fee is $66.50 plus 13% HST for a total of $75.15.

You must also complete your Emergency CPR/First Aid, which is an additional cost to you, the trainee.

Once the course is complete, the test is passed, and Emergency First Aid/CPR is completed you will be able to send in your paperwork to apply for the license. A government processing fee of $80.00 will be required for your application to be processed.
